Welcome back to the Dern files, True Believer!
In this weeks installment of Dern After Reading we discuss award show buzz and the (at the time of recording, upcoming) Oscars! Max fields the Big Dern 'I Am Sam', a 2001 melodrama surrounding Sean Penn as a mentally challenged father fighting the courts for custody of his daughter. In between two Dern's we discuss 'Raven' the John Jacobs and Tim Reiterman retelling of the life of and their time with a Mr.Jim Jones, as well as Please Kill Me, the oral history of punk rock. We wrap out our episode with an attempted little Dern by Nic, of the elusive and currently inaccessible 'Damage Care', a 2002 TV movie of little note or acclaim.
